MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Zambales on Thursday evening, a bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, generating possible aftershocks but no damage is expected.
The tremor struck at a depth of 78 kilometers and was located at 15.08°N, 120.19°E - 012 km N 19° E of San Marcelino, Zambales.
The government agency said that the quake was tectonic in origin and hit at around 10:27 this evening.
PHIVOLCS said that aftershocks were possible although there was no expected damage from the initial tremblor.
