Zamboanga Sibugay's Most Wanted falls
The arresting team recovered drugs, a gun and a grenade from the suspect.
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- A raid in a hotel in Ipil town, Zamboanga Sibugay on Friday led to the arrest of a man implicated in the ambush and killing of a soldier in 2015.
The suspect was identified as Odih Wahab, a member of the Barahama Ali Group.
Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, regional police director, said police and military personnel captured Wahab about 1:15p.m inside a hotel in Barangay Upper Pangi, Ipil town.
Beltran said Wahab, tagged the most wanted person in the province, faced warrants of arrest for robbery and murder. He is believed to have been involved in an ambush on government troops on May 2015 that killed Ssgt. Juan Ablao. The attackers also burned a police patrol car.
The raiding forces recovered a cal.45 pistol, magazines with ammunition, blasting caps, a fragmentation grenade and sachets of suspected shabu from Wahab.
