MANILA, Philippines — Even with his familiarity with Filipino fighters, Ev Ting admits that he still hasn’t figured Eduard Folayang out.
Ting will challenge Folayang for the ONE Championship lightweight title in the “Kings of Destiny” card this Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Watching his last fight, there wasn’t much to study. He had a perfect performance. He defended everything and showed superiority in striking and wrestling,” Ting said, referring to Folayang’s masterful conquest of Japanese grappling legend Shinya Aoki last November.
“No flaws I could bring up, so it’s a matter of believing in myself that I could do more and better him come fight night,” he offered.
“I’m ready for every scenario, every situation that can come up in the fight. It’s simply working harder and more,” Ting noted.
“The fight will start on the feet so I’ll test my range and timing there. If I’m getting success there, obviously I’ll stay there, but who knows. If he’s swinging wild, the takedown might be there,” Ting said of his planned approach.

“This is a very high-level mixed martial arts fight. You can’t go in there with a tunnel vision or a single-tracked mind. You have to be like water and just flow at the same time, e vicious and look for the finish as soon as possible.”
