VIDEO - How could a gunman get past Resorts World Manila guards and start shooting?
Metal detectors were useless at Resorts World Manila. Just hours after the attack, a video shown here started circulating claiming to be CCTV footage from Resorts World Manila. It's was not. It was actually from a South America hotel robbery in 2011. Unfortunately, history repeated itself.nnWhen we look at the security check that happens at entrances throughout Metro Manila, we are not surprised. We posted our own footage of useless security checks just as news was unfolding to illustrate our points: n- Entrance checks annoy regular customers and create a false sense of security. n- Guards are NOT using their metal detectors properly and the public does not want to submit to a proper inspection. n- Guards should be moved to roving positions inside the buildings where they can be more visible and responsive to public safety concerns.nnThe public is being tricked into thinking something real is happening at the entrance of most malls. Here's a video showing how to properly use a handheld metal detector: https://youtu.be/4MNX1u0C4fgnnAgain, most shoppers would not submit to a proper inspection. And that doesn't matter because if we watch the footage of the actual attacker, we can see that he didn't pass through the metal detector at all!nnSkip to 2:08 to see the entry of the attacker in the actual footage here: https://youtu.be/NjwwuHxCn2U?t=2m8snnWe predict that for the next month or so, entry inspections will temporarily get the appearance of being more strict. But that will make no difference against an actual attacker. Security in Metro Manila needs a better approach.nnnnWith royalty free music by Bensound, used by permission.
