MANILA, Philippines — Schools and local government units canceled classes Friday after the 6.3 magnitude quake that jolted Nasugbu, Batangas in the afternoon.
A mix of academic institutions and LGUs in Metro Manila and Batangas announced the suspension of classes.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that no damage was expected from the quake but residents in nearby areas should prepare for possible aftershocks.

Meanwhile, the Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas and De La Salle University campuses in Manila, Taft, Makati, BGC and Laguna also suspended work for today.
