Twenty-eight remains of civilians and several suspected terrorists were laid to rest in Marawi City Tuesday morning amid the ongoing crisis in the area.
Based on the estimates of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Crisis Management Committee (PCMC), 88 dead bodies were buried in mass graves since June of this year.
Saripada Pacasum of the Lanao del Sur PCMC said, many are still searching for their missing loved ones but are afraid to identify the bodies.
“Others might have been too scared to claim and identify the bodies, similar to what happened yesterday when I insisted on one of the families to identify the bodies and they refused,” he said.
