Frozen star Kristen Bell is bracing herself for the storm of the century after revealing she'll be staying in Florida when Hurricane Irma lashes the state this weekend.

The actress, who is filming new movie Like Father in Florida, took to Instagram on Friday (08Sep17) to update fans and followers about her predicament.

"Last run to the store for #irma hurricane holdover prep while bracing down in orlando," she wrote beneath a photo of herself and a friend collecting supplies. "We didn't have the option to leave so here we are."

She went on to explain that she, her co-stars and crew will be trying to stay safe and dry at one of Orlando's Walt Disney World hotels, adding, "Just doing our best and trying to stay positive but cautious, and trying to help those who need help prepping."

And the actress admitted she's impressed by the neighbourhood effort of people throughout the state, who have put their own evacuation plans on hold to help others.

"Every person i passed today was assisting someone else - #neighborshelpingneighbors - it was beautiful to see," she wrote. "Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone - but happy that the community will be holding hands through this."

The actress also thanked staff at Walt Disney World for staying upbeat as the storm approaches and helping herself and her friends and colleagues feel like they belong: "Im grateful to Gary and the team at @swandolphin in epcot for helping us feel safe while we get through this together," she wrote.

Hurricane Irma, which has already ripped through islands in the Caribbean, is expected to hit Florida late on Saturday (09Sep17).
