PNP: Reynaldo de Guzman’s family must return the cadaver back to Nueva Ecija
MANILA, Philippines — After the PNP Crime Lab reported the negative result of the DNA test on the cadaver found in a creek in Nueva Ecija, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said parents of Reynaldo de Guzman alias “Kulot” must return the unidentified cadaver to PNP Nueva Ecija who handles the case.
The PNP reasoned that the case of the unidentified body can be considered a new case because it involves new personalities and not ‘Kulot.’
“With this DNA result are they going to bury the cadaver that they do not own, it has to go back to who is handling the case,” PNP PIO PCSupt. Dionardo Carlos said.
Another proof that strengthens the PNP’s argument is the statement of Kulot’s brother.
“They found to be the cadaver uncircumcised, when they know pretty well that Kulot is circumcised. They must look into it,” Carlos said.
The PNP is confident that the DNA test will contribute to their investigation while there is a possibility that Kulot is still alive.
Meanwhile, the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) will continue its search for Kulot while PNP Nueva Ecija will conduct an investigation on the unidentified cadaver.
The PNP belied the statements issued by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) and questions the mandate of PAO on the case.
“It is part of the investigation of the Philippine National Police that has the mandate in investigating crimes. What is the mandate of the expert? We’re not arguing but they are questioning our mandate,” Carlos said.
The PNP admitted they already have a lead on those who want to sabotage the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the government, though they still have to verify the matter. – Mon Jocson | UNTV News & Rescue
