The Rebisco-PSL team

MANILA, Philippines — Rebisco-PSL Manila began its 2017 AVC Club Championship campaign with a deflating 17-25, 10-25, 14-25 defeat to Hisamitsu Springs of Japan at the Boris Alexandrov Sports Palace in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan.

The Japanese club dominated Rebisco with their disciplined brand of volleyball and took advantage of the erroneous Philippine squad.

Jaja Santiago was the lone bright spot for PSL-Rebisco with 16 points.

The Rebisco-PSL squad was formed weeks before the tournament.

The Foton Tornadoes were supposed to represent the country after winning the 2016 Philippine SuperLiga Grand Prix but begged off after an exodus of their players.
