Liza Soberano to give more than 100% in 'Darna' role

MANILA, Philippines — After confirming that she is officially the newest actress to play the role of the iconic Filipino superheroine “Darna,” Liza Soberano vowed to give more than 100 percent for the role.
Kapamilya star Liza on Tuesday confirmed that she is accepting the role of “Darna” in a film adaptation to be directed by Erik Matti.
“Yes, it's confirmed. Tinatanggap ko na po ang role na Darna,” Liza said after a previous report of The STAR mentioned she was chosen to play Darna.
Liza, who admitted that she initially liked the role when she it was offered to her, said that she is nervous for her upcoming project but she vowed to do her best. This is the first time she will play a fictional character.
“Siyempre ‘yung expectation ng mga tao. Ang gagawin ko na lang po is I'll give my more than 100 percent sa project na ‘to,” Liza said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN news.
The 19-year-old actress is known for her previous romantic teleseryes “Got to Believe,” “Forevermore” and “Dolce Amore.” She and her onscreen partner Enrique Gil, whose love team is known as “LizQuen” are also among the leading love teams today.

Asked what she feels about her new role, Liza said that she is both excited and honored.
“Sobrang na-excite po ako and siyempre I'm happy and I feel really honored to be able to don the iconic costume and to be able to embody what Darna represents,” the actress said.
“I feel like it would help me career wise but as an actor I hope na mas marami pa akong matutunan,” she concluded.
With her acceptance of the Darna role, Liza now joins the roster of actresses who took the lead role in Mars Ravelo’s iconic superheroine.
Some of the actresses who previously played Darna in a film or television series are Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Nanette Medved, Anjanette Abayari, Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino and Vilma Santos, among others.
