Naomi Campbell was nervous before she made a surprise appearance at the Azzedine Alaia couture show.

The British supermodel opened Alaia's Paris Couture Week show on Wednesday (05Jul17), the Tunisian-born designer's first couture collection in six years, and dazzled in a short black and white coat with toggles and had her hair wrapped in a high turban which made her resemble an African queen.

Naomi admits she found the presentation to be an "emotional" experience, as she didn't want to disappoint Alaia, whom she has known since she was a teenager and refers to as "papa".

"I kept it all quiet and it was a big surprise. It was overwhelming and I have to admit I was nervous," she told MailOnline. "It was very emotional walking out as I didn't want to let him down and wanted him to be proud of me. His clothes are exquisite. He is truly the master."

The 47-year-old modelled for Alaia throughout the late '80s and early '90s, alongside other top names such as Madonna, Brigitte Nielsen and Stephanie Seymour. And Naomi claims that the 77-year-old has been a constant source of support throughout her career and she would do just about anything to help him out.

"I first walked for him when I was 16 and there I was walking for him again in my 40s and I would do it again for him, anywhere, anytime," she shared. "I would have dropped everything to be there. There is nowhere in the world I would have rather been at that moment."

Naomi's runway appearance for Alaia has no doubt topped off an exciting week for her, as she was also named as one of British Vogue's new contributing editors on Thursday. Incoming editor Edward Enninful has also enlisted Kate Moss, director Steve McQueen and stylist Grace Coddington for roles within the magazine.
