MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) are encouraging more women to participate in the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections not only as voters but as election candidates.
DILG officer-in-charge Eduardo Año said that by running in the election, women will be able to prove their capability in leading a community towards significant change.
Based on data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), one out of five women voters run for public office in the country.
The filing of the certificate of candidacy for the barangay and SK polls will be from April 14 to April 20. — UNTV News & Rescue
