Police discover a marijuana indoor farm in Marikina City

MARIKINA CITY, Philippines – Authorities discovered an indoor marijuana farm at a house in SSS Village, Barangay Concepcion in Marikina City on Thursday, June 7.

Three people were arrested and were identified as Miguel Joseph Arias, Elijah Arias and a 17-year old female in the act of using illegal marijuana inside a room where marijuana plants were being cultivated.

A total of 40 pots of marijuana plants were seized from inside a fully air-conditioned room equipped with UV light and water supply.

According to the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Marikina Police, the suspects derived their knowledge of marijuana indoor farming through the internet. They were supposed to harvest the marijuana leaves in December.

Aside from fresh marijuana plants, authorities also seized from the suspects drug paraphernalia and 800 grams of dried marijuana with a combined street value of almost P4 million. The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. – Reynante Ponte / Marje Pelayo
