Organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), the sixth Philippines Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) that’s set to happen on July 10 and 11 intends to promote wider electric vehicles (EVs) adoption for public and private transport.
Nissan and Mitsubishi are among the partners of the said summit–two manufacturers that are seriously pushing to bring EVs in the country. Speaking of which, Mitsubishi will be displaying its electric vehicles–the i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV–in the sixth PEVS.
This is not the first time that Mitsubishi will be displaying the said electric vehicles in the Philippines. As a review, Mitsubishi exhibited the i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV last year during the first ASEAN Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Summit held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. In fact, the Japanese manufacturer donated five units each of the i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Will Mitsubishi offer the i-MiEV and the Outlander PHEV in the local market soon? The answer to that is–no. The reason for this is that the Philippines is not that ready yet to embrace EVs, but the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) is constantly working to fast track the country’s readiness towards EVs. Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV and Outlander PHEV as well as the PEVS itself is a strong indication that we are moving forward to keep up with what looks like the future of mobility – EVs. EVAP President Rommel Juan even said during the press conference for the announcement of the sixth PEVS that the “whole world is going electric–whether we like it or not.”
The sixth PEVS will be staged at the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.
