One-Off Eagle Squadron Ford Mustang Has 700 Hp
Ford Performance partnered with drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. to create a one-of-a-kind Eagle Squadron-style Mustang GT as a commemorative of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force. Gittin piloted the fighter aircraft-inspired fastback at this year’s Goodwood Festival in the UK, after which the performance car will go on auction at a fundraiser hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association at the end of the month.
Aside from the Eagle Squadron paint scheme, the Mustang also boasts a 700 hp, 827 Nm performance, delivered by the vehicle’s 5.0-liter V8 and a six-speed manual powertrain combo. Suspension comes by way of Ford’s MagneRide shocks, lowered springs, and Ford RTR anti-roll bars. The rest of the car’s unique features–which Gittin helped design–include a wide carbon fiber body kit, black suede and brown leather upholstery, custom grille and lights, special aluminum badge made from the metal of an actual Eagle Squadron plane, and wheels supplied by Gittin’s RTR company. Eagle Squadron logos have also been strategically placed over the vehicle, including the roof, front fenders, seats, and shift knob.
Gittin drove the Eagle Squadron Mustang GT up the hillclimb course at Goodwood on July 12. Afterwards, it will be auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s fundraiser event on July 26.
