Commuters scramble for a ride home amid bad weather
MANILA, Philippines – Government offices finally announced work suspension starting noon on Monday (August 13) due to the inclement weather.
Senate President Tito Sotto III said the suspension will start at 11 a.m.
He said he was informed that several Senate employees were also affected by the flood since the nonstop monsoon rains over the weekend.

Only one hearing proceeded at 9:00 a.m. on rural electrification and the status of the country’s electrification but other committee hearings schedule today have already been cancelled.
The House of Representatives also suspended work today except for the hearing of the Energy Committee.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio ordered work suspension of work in all courts in the National Capital Region (NCR), starting 12:00 noon today.
The suspension covers work in the Supreme Court, Court Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals, the Sandiganbayan and all trial courts in NCR.
All executive judges in other areas affected by the rains and flooding are given the authority to suspend work in their respective jurisdiction. – UNTV News and Rescue
