Winnie Harlow had breakdown before auditioning for dream Victoria's Secret gig

Supermodel Winnie Harlow has celebrated landing her dream gig for the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show by reflecting on the breakdown she suffered moments before the big audition.

The Canadian stunner, who rose to fame on Tyra Banks' hit reality show America's Next Top Model in 2014, was recently spotted attending a New York casting call for the top fashion label's annual lingerie presentation, and on Friday (07Sep18), it was announced that she had been successful in scoring a spot on the runway in November (18).

Winnie, who has skin condition vitiligo, has since taken to Instagram to share her happiness at the news, revealing she was an emotional wreck as she prepared to strut her stuff for brand bosses at the audition.

"I had a break down before i walked into the most nerve wrecking casting of my life (sic)," she captioned a screenshot of a Vogue article detailing her new job.

"I asked my driver to go around the block twice before i could walk into the @VictoriasSecret offices so i could re coup, and remember (while my trainer @bodybymato reminded me on the phone through sobs - thank you lol (laugh out loud)) how hard I've been working (sic)! I went in and made new friends and saw old friends and it already felt like home...!"

Winnie went on to admit she had to fight her "nervous storm of anticipation" to walk for her "life", and she is still pinching herself at her achievement, which has long been a career goal.

"I can't believe this!!" she exclaimed. "Thank you for giving me all the energy and kindness in that room! Thank you for allowing me to walk for VICTORIA'S SECRET!"

She continued with a message of gratitude to her her agency representatives, family, and fans for supporting her dreams, and concluded, "I'm so blessed thank you Lord!! IM WALKING THE VICTORIA'S SECRET SHOW (sic)...!"

The 24-year-old model, who also shared a video clip of herself crying with joy at her casting, was inundated with congratulatory comments from followers, including a few celebrity fans.

"Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh (sic) congrats my (love)," wrote actress Gabrielle Union, while Khloe Kardashian added, "Congratulations gorgeous!!!!!!! You are perfection".

Winnie will be walking alongside the likes of fellow Victoria's Secret angels Barbara Palvin, Leomie Anderson, and Devon Windsor, while fashion regulars Gigi and Bella Hadid, Martha Hunt, and Karlie Kloss are expected to return, too.

The big news emerged a day after Winnie, who has fronted campaigns for brands like Desigual, Swarovski, and Covergirl, was named the Breakthrough Model of the Year at Daily Front Row's Fashion Media Awards on Thursday night.
