QUEZON CITY, Philippines – A gunfight broke out after three suspects in a gun trade resisted arrest in Barangay Bago Bantay, Quezon City on Thursday (October 11).
One of them was identified as alias Turo. Two of his cohorts are still being known.
According to Quezon City Police District Director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., a tipster informed them of a large scale gun running activity in the area.
An agent of the QC District Special Operations Unit posed as buyer with whom alias Turo transacted a shotgun for P10,000.
One of the suspects sensed the entrapment and immediately pulled a gun.
The police were compelled to retaliate resulting in the death of the three.
Buti na lang may gamit kaming bullet vest,” said PO3 Roniel Abuyog, the operating unit’s team leader.
Seized from the suspects were three shotguns and three .45 caliber pistols.
Esquivel said the PNP is now on intensified operations against loose firearms in view of the coming elections.
– Marje Pelayo (with reports from Asher Cadapan Jr.)
