F2 tries to bolster bid vs Foton

MANILA, Philippines — With Petron sweeping the first round, F2 Logistics trains its sights on the second spot as it collides with Foton even as Cignal tries to bolster its bid against winless Smart in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix today at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

The powerhouse Blaze Spikers clobbered the Cocolife Asset Managers, 26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, late Tuesday to dominate the eight-team field in the first round, leaving F2 Logistics, Cocolife, Foton, Sta. Lucia Realty and Cignal to fight for No. 2 in the next round.

With a 4-1 slate, F2 Logistics has the inside track on the coveted spot but Foton has vowed to go all out in a bid to improve its 2-3 mark in the tournament bankrolled by Isuzu and UCPB Gen with ESPN5 as official broadcast partner.

Gametime is at 1:45 p.m. with Cignal, also toting a 2-3 record with idle Sta. Lucia, expected to get past Smart in their 4:10 p.m. encounter.

Cocolife closed out its first round stint in the tournament, backed by Senoh, Mikasa, Asics, LGR and Grand Sport as technical sponsors, with a 4-3 mark.
