Scorpions gun for outright semis slot
MANILA, Philippines — Centro Escolar University shoots for the first outright semis berth against ousted Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College in the homestretch of the eliminations in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center today.
The Scorpions try to break off a three-way tie at the top with Akari-Adamson and Marinerong Pilipino with their identical 8-2 marks and secure one of the two automatic slots in the Last-4 against the Generals at 2 p.m.
After playing sparingly two games ago and missing their last match due to lower back pain, Congolese ace Rod Ebondo returns to action to anchor CEU’s charge against Batangas-EAC (1-8).
“This is our last game in the eliminations and it’s good to end it on a winning note,” said Scorpions coach Yong Garcia.
The also-ran Generals, for their part, are bent on winning their final two matches after dropping the last four.
At 4 p.m., Go for Gold (4-6) looks to end its campaign with a victory against AMA Online Education (1-8) in a battle of eliminated teams.
Justin Gutang and Yankee Haruna will try to help the Scratchers check a three-game slide against the Robbie Manalang-led Titans who lost their last five outings.
