Abraham ‘Abet’ dela Cruz
MANILA, Philippines — The pair of Tony Cembrano and Federico Marquez bagged the overall title while Meynard Ko and Roy Nudalo captured the low gross crown in the 19th Don Celso Tuason and Valley Founders Cup recently at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City.
Cembrano and Marquez put together a score of 186 points, while Ko and Nudalo combined for 164 points in the events that saw more than 500 participants took part in the member-guest event.
It was the highlight so far for the year for Valley Golf and Country Club after the renovation of two amazing courses as more that P3 million in prizes were given, including a brand new Nissan Navarra pick up raffled off during the awarding ceremony.
Other winners were Marvin Caparros-King Stehmeier (Division 1), Domingo Brion- Edgardo Santos (Div. 2), Rudy Ferraren-Jaime Santos in Div (3), and Cecile Esguerra-Vangie Apuhin (women’s category).
It was the first time a big tournament like the Don Celso Tuason was played at Valley, which features the newly renovated North and South courses.
“Our members as well as guests were happy with the pristine conditions of the North and South courses,” said VGCC president Abraham “Abet” dela Cruz.“Because of this year’s success, it will be a challenge for us to, at least match it, as we gear up for the 20th year of Don Celso Tuason and Valley Founders Cup (next year).”
