MANILA, Philippines — Powerhouse Petron and F2 Logistics seek to stay at the Pool A helm as they take on separate rivals even as the national team goes for a third straight win in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference today at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
After ruling the previous Grand Prix and Challenge Cup Beach Volleyball competition, the Blaze Spikers try to remain on course for another title crack as they gun for their third win in a row against Generika-Ayala at 4:15 p.m.
The Cargo Movers also shoot for a third win against University of the Philippines-United Auctioneers, Inc. (UP-UAI) in the 7 p.m. main game of a triple-bill that also features the 2 p.m. encounter between the Philippine team and Smart-Army.
The Nationals, however, will be missing six players from F2 Logistics, including skipper Aby Maraño, Kim Fajardo, Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Cha Cruz-Behag and Dawn Macandili while Petron stalwarts Frances Molina and Mika Reyes will also suit up for their mother team.
“We have to be more prepared because we’re going to miss players from Petron and F2 Logistics,” said national team coach Shaq Delos Santos, who guided Petron to a Grand Prix title last May.
“But I still believe that the remaining players can do it and will give their best.”
But focus will be on the Cargo Movers, who are out to gain momentum for their keenly awaited faceoff with the Blaze Spikers this Saturday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
